If you have small children, it’s smart to monitor their initial interactions with the kitten. Understandably, your kids will be excited to have a new pet. Their enthusiasm may startle or confuse the kitty. The children may also want to play or touch the kitty as much as possible F2 savannah kittens for adoption. After all, this delightful, furry creature is your new pet. You don’t want the cat to become annoyed with too much petting and cuddling, which may cause the cat to scratch your child. Remind your kids to be gentle and to give the cat extra space to get used to its surroundings.

If you have other animals, try to keep them away from the new kitty. You can put your other animals in separate room, which will give your new kitten time to explore his new home. For at least the first few days, create a new area especially for your kitten. It could be in a spare bedroom or an extra bathroom. By giving your kitten its own space, it will give him time to adjust to his new home.

Since your kitty is new to the household routines, it will be easier for him to locate food or a litter box if these are kept in his own room. The room needs to have these essentials: food, water, litter box, and toys. Look around and remove any potentially dangerous objects. Make sure he cannot become bored, as bored kittens tend to get into mischief.

Decide how long your kitten should stay in its own room. Based on its personality, an outgoing kitten could be ready almost immediately. A shy kitten may need a few days to get used to everything. Watch your cat and let her guide your decision.

Once you’re ready to introduce your other pets, you need to take care that they don’t hurt the kitten. In fact, your pet should not be left unattended around the new kitten until they demonstrate protective or accepting behaviors. An older cat may groom your kitty. A dog may want to sniff the kitty and then sit quietly beside them. These are both good signs that your animals will be safe together.
